Our history dated back to 1982, when the "new immigrants" came to Scarborough and North York.
We also expanded our mandates, following the flow of the new immigrants.
On September 8, 1982, we registered as "Scarborough Chinese Businese Association".
On Jan 5, 1983, we changed our name to "Scarborough-North York Chinese Business Association".
On February 22, 1990, we changed our name to "Scarborough-North York and Markham Chinese Business Association".
On March 4, 1992, we changed our name to "Scarborough-York Region Chinese Business Association".
Since 1982, the Scarborough York Region Chinese Business Association has served
Markham, North York. Richmond Hill and Scarborough. During these years, we have
shared the good times and the bad times with our members who operate small and
medium size businesses, or work in these regions. We collected your opinion on
government measures, polices, either enacted or to be enacted, through surveys,
seminars, and relayed to the responsible government offices. Our voice supported
by our members, has become loud and clear. The educational or informative
functions that we organized have helped members to benefit through more
understanding and better planning for their business. Donations made by our
Association have helped to establish Scholarship foundation which benefits
university students in the many years to come . We have accomplished a lot in
the past, and this new board will continue to strive for better.
